No Name Kicker formed in early 2009 after an epiphany in which five individual musicians decided that they could write better music together than they ever could on their own. The combination of their very different backgrounds and influences led to a killer sound that can be described simply as “rock,” although some claim it feels more like a blend of “Stevie Ray Vaughn” and “Maroon 5.”
Since their formation, No Name Kicker has played various venues in NW Arkansas including Riley’s Boom Boom Room, The Bayou, and George’s Majestic Lounge.
Daniel Godfrey
His most interesting musical experience was the 2nd grade talent show when he and his brother did a “stunning” duet of Bridges and Walls that blew the crowd away. They said there were no “winners”, but he knows they totally owned it.
Chuck Taylor
He drums.
He will drum.
Behold the greatness.
And yes, those are his shoes.
John Cox
John grew up in Texas. He cut his teeth on Stevie Ray Vaughan and furthered his “education” by taking in as many shows as possible in Austin. From Texas he moved to Colorado where he fronted “Modu”. After being recruited to help start a summer camp in Arkansas, he ended up with the rawk that you know as No Name Kicker.
John’s favorite past times include rocking the guitar (of course), recording, adventure racing and hanging with the fam. He geeks out on web stuff and gear pretty much all the time. Musical influences include SRV, [old] Vertical Horizon, Walt Mink, Incubus and James Taylor.
Nathan Roten
In his own words…
…I’m currently 23 years old and living in Fayetteville, AR. I grew up listening to my father sing and play his guitar and I caught the bug to do just the same when I was 14.
Influences: RHCP, Hootie and the Blowfish, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Eagles, Nirvana, Pino Pallidino, and my own creativeness.
Likes: Running and working out, playing basketball, following sports teams, $5 footlongs, friends and family
Dislikes: 4 way stops, rain, and not being instantly good at something
Adam Martin
Adam loves pretty much anything outdoors – biking, fishing, camping. Little known fact: Adam loves maps. Ask him how to get anywhere and chances are that he knows the exact route. It’s crazy! Of course he loves music. He’s always learning new instruments. He’s been a percussionist, played viola (which his parents made him quit), guitar, keys, acordion…the list goes on.
Adam was born in North Carolina and moved with his family to Northwest Arkansas as a child. He’s been friends with Daniel and Nathan for many years. He’s been a genius since birth.
